Two movies I’d like to watch but I’m holding off because they can be a little creepy: ET and Goonies. Honorable mention: Ratatouille, Finding Nemo, Beauty and the Beast (original) I loved this and especially the way it ended. How To Train Your Dragon 3: For a third in a series (and after really disliking the second), this trio redeemed itself. Parent Trap: honestly, either of them! Remakes are usually done sub par but I always loved the Lindsey Lohan version too - and this is after being a longtime fan of the Haley Mills version. Jackie Chan plays such a great character in it. Karate Kid (the new one): It does have a little bit of violence, but the boys got pretty into this a few months back, and Steve and I love it too. Sound of Music: I mean, it’s long and there are parts that may not keep the rapt attention of your five year old, but they really liked it and, come on, it’s Sound of Music! Streaming on Disney+Ġ3. Anyway, this one is up there with my favorite movies too, and certainly is my favorite horse movie (though I will forever love Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken).

Everything can be spun into a homeschooling activity these days, ain’t that the truth. I think we’ll continue down this path by watching some of Secretariat’s actual races, and finding out why he was such a good racer (his heart was two and a half sizes bigger than an average horse’s!). Secretariat: Parker declared it his “favorite movie ever” and even wrote an opinion piece on it for his schoolwork the next day. So when we do find one that we’re all equally thrilled by, it feels like such a win. I’m always itching for a good weekend movie night with, hopefully, a movie that Steve and I will thoroughly enjoy too as opposed to one solely for the kids.
